Vashon Liquid Propelled rockets (aka Estes "Cold Power")

Still one of my favorite rocket systems to fly, the Vashon Valkyrie can be quite the "crowd pleaser". I've restored a few of these and remarkably they still work after 30 years.

Here are some pictures from the packaging and a few of videos from recent launches.

If you know of other Vashon / Cold Power information on the web and it's not listed here, please send me the link so I can add it. (jamie at dph.com)

Launch videos

1.5 mb DivX AVI: When trying to get the Electrical Firing system to work (for the first time in 30 years), the pressure in the V2 engine dropped too low to blow out the plug. Well, as I tried to "disarm" the rocket, it decided to give it ago anyway, which made for an amusing 10' flight.

1.3mb DivX AVI: Full speed of the V2 launch, demonstrating a successful "Electrical Firing" and POV camera man (me) catching the rocket.

972k DivX AVI: Half speed of the V2 launch, demonstrating a successful "Electrical Firing"
